Mk6 Gti 35 Guidance
« on: 29 December 2024, 10:22 »
Morning guys hope you all had a great Xmas, I fairly recently bought a Gti 35th Anniversary model which is a great car it's a 3 door Manual with 44k on the clock, I've read on this forum about changing the PCV valve and I think I read about the diverter valve upgrade, I'd like to know if you guys reckon these are things that I should be doing and if you have any recommendations on part numbers that I should be buying, also if there are any other tweaks I should be doing, I've been told that it's had a stage 1 remap but not sure who by, judging by the ooomph under my right foot I'd certainly say it has been remapped but moving forward I would like it to stay as close to standard as it can be, looking forward to being educated on this and have a great New Year

Good morning and welcome.

In short, only change the Diverter V & PCV if you have to i.e. its failed.

The one thing I would prioitise would be the cam follower, if you have no evidence of it being changed, that would be the first thing I would do. It's one of the first things I did with mine and its an easyt DIY.

The only other thing I would suggest is the cambelt and water pump, its certainly at the age where it should have had at least 2 by now.

Happy New Year to you Nino and thanks for the reply, I'll prioritise the cam follower job and get that done ASAP, I was just thinking about the PCV and Diverter as preventative maintenance but they can be done after the follower job, if you think of any other items that would be beneficial to the upkeep of the car just let me know advise from the experienced is greatfully received, regards Chris
