I’d certainly not suggest to anyone NOT to spec DCC, and indeed at around £720(?) it’s a very well priced option for what you get, it’s just that I’d never class it as essential. Unless you do want Queenstowns in which case it is essential!! 😁
I wonder whether VW slip YouTubers and journos £500 for every time they mention it?!!
Joking aside, that brings me to the 19” wheel options for the 265 GTI, obviously the Queenstowns set you back £2k ish with DCC but I do wonder what necessitates the extra £500 or so added to the Estorils at £1350 as compared to the £770 when speccing them on a Clubsport.

Its because you aren't actually adding DCC when you select Estorils (£1350). You are just obliged to add 'Sports suspension for 19inch alloy wheels' (effectively as a £0 option), which sounds like it is just uprated shocks front and rear (?). If you try to specifically add DCC on top of that, you are then obliged to switch to Queenstown wheels with DCC (£1270+£720 = £1990), Why? Like Monkeymagik, I have no idea. As others have said, its probably a configurator error - one of several.

This sums it up perfectly, most of these discrepancies are simple errors that you’d think would have been corrected by now!

Just got an email from Drive the Deal saying GTI list price is going up £600 on 21st November.  I understand luxury car tax banding takes effect from registration date so the delay on mine could mean it’s now in that band and much more expensive to run.

Yes, forum member @evo1986 started a discussion topic about the 21/11/2024 price increase around 3 weeks ago - link to that topic; https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=290729.0

Woah, so a base GTI with no extra options would have a list price of exactly £40k?! Not only that but they have increased APR to 7.5% from 6.9%

I think this is VW trying to make sure they sell less ICE cars compared to electric to meet their targets to avoid fees, and to think the price will increase again by April 2025 with first year road tax increasing.

This will push up used low mileage Golf GTI prices for sure!

Contacted the dealer who confirmed that yes it would now be subject to luxury car tax.  They were not forthcoming with that information earlier so I guess hoped I’d just end up stuck with it.

Also said they’d not discount the car further to make up the difference, so cancelling the order.

I’ll run out the rest of my PCP deal and probably make the jump to electric in the new year, but won’t be with VW.

If it’s exactly £600 increase, it would put it at £39,995 plus £680 VED and £55 1st registration fee

Problem is that they’ve also increased the option prices, so sticking basic black paint on it pushes it above.

Ah yes, hadn’t thought of that. Suppose the only option now is white, urano or moonstone to keep it under £40k. 2 price rises within 5 months of release!

Or just spec the car as you desire and enjoy it, I realise that it’s the principle of it in regards to the extra VED, but I’m very pleased I decided to go to town with the options, the 8.5 is a great car.
