Just wanted to share an amazing deal I signed up for: a VW service plan for only £29/month. It includes:
- **2 Services**
- **2 Years MOT**
- **2 Years Roadside Assistance**
- **2 Years VW Warranty**

After purchasing the plan, I immediately booked my Golf R for its service, which is scheduled for the 26th of November. I think it’s a fantastic deal, and it gives me peace of mind knowing my car will stay in top-notch condition.

Anyone else using this service plan or have experiences to share? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Cheers.

Sorry but I think almost £700 for two oil changes and maybe an air filter is not great value for money !

The headline figure is pretty attractive- mainly for the 2 year warranty when many of these cars are coming to an age when something will go wrong.

I bet a good percentage of customers will make a warranty claim- some of which can be pretty expensive. It costs vw £1000 every time they do a thermostat.

Major service also includes plugs, air filter, pollen filter ( and, of course ,oil and filter), so around £150 parts over 2 years.

Add £100 for 2 MOTs and a little for breakdown.

So how do VW make their money on these plans?

By making customers pay for unnecessary work.

Having MOT on the same day as service is a big problem too- very easy for them to find something that must be done to get you through the mot.

It’s a nasty, dishonest way to do business.

If you’re happy with that, then go for it- you do get some protection from the warranty- but be prepared for a fight if you need to use it. You also preserve your “ full vw service history “ which, like it or not, is worth something in the used market.

I’ve had 2 service plans.  I’m gonna start doing my own servicing now- it’ll save me around £550 over 2 years.
More importantly, I hope it’ll be a more pleasant experience.

I always have the VW All In Plans and i have one running now but i never allow them to do the MOT for fear of them taking advantage. I can get the MOT done for £38 a time near me so more than happy to lose the £76

I've got an All in One for my Mk8 when the warranty ran out...

However, after my first service I am reminded how much they try and bum r@pe you....

I got stung for brake fluid replacement.... didn't even ask them about diff service. They didn't offer it but I'll get someone else to do it.

I'll definitely not be taking them up on the MOT thank you very much as they will tell me all of the brakes, tyres and god knows what needs replacement as well.

And then pressure me to signing a waiver saying its on my own head if I take it away without those needless things....

No its just a scheme to bleed you dry....

As for the warranty bit.... I suspect thats also worthless but I'd only try it on if something big blew up.

In 3 visits, I can list 4 instances of unnecessary work being advised-

 1. Mot and service booked on the same day. Advised 2 tyres had “ cuts down to cord” ( one front one rear, so potentially would have been looking at 4 new tyres). I didn’t agree. On this occasion, I was not on a service plan, so said do the service but no thanks to the Mot. I then arranged Mot myself- which it passed with no advisories.
2. Rear brake pads worn ( and technician specifically commented that discs were fine). Was advised by service advisor to change pads and discs because that’s what they usually recommend!
No thanks. I got the work done at an indie
3. Driver’s seatbelt “ frayed” - advised replacement at a cost of £700.
If i was to show you a picture of the “ frayed “ belt you would ask what we are looking at. Absolute bs. Nothing wrong with the belt
4. Again 2 tyres with minute cuts “ down to cord”- which the technician showed me with a tool- I didn’t agree but had to accept it on this occasion

The warranty is not entirely useless, but you do have to give them the impression that you’re not going away unless they sort it out- and if they haven’t got a leg to stand on, they’ll do it.
Otherwise, they’ll make you fight them for it.

It’s a dirty business.

My experience with VW has been good and over nearly 20 years.
Mots have been carried out with services with minimal failures. And warranty work with used car warranties has always been carried out.
Also if you have a reason for complaint its with the dealer not VW surely.
I appreciate that dealers may vary of course.

Things of course have changed, not least of which VW themselves getting tougher on warranty claims.

The enforced following of VW computer based troubleshooting is one factor that causes frustration for both customers and mechanics. Nobody is allowed to second guess the computer!

It certainly also seemed to me like my dealer was hungrier than ever for money - probably because they aren't selling any cars...
