I've been promising it to myself for a decade and I'm pleased to say I enjoyed every minute.  15 nights in 9 different cities and an average drive of 3.5hrs between them,  Longest drive of 5.5hrs on the way back, but helped by Mrs S, who also loves driving.

The drive from Switzerland to Italy was a highlight for me.  Lovely twisty mountain roads and amazing views, with snow in places despite temps in the low to mid 20's.

Highly recommended, but planning (and saving up!) are essential.

Very jealous indeed BillSan, sounds like a superb trip, and good to hear the clubby behaved itself. 👌

almost lost my mind in it with a vibrating noise coming from the drivers side near the air vent/ light control area, I'm sure it might be  the panel and on the side between door and dash

Today I took delivery of a space saver spare wheel bought on EBay to replace the tins of gunk my Clubsport came with. Over the years I’ve been fortunate with punctures. However I’ve had to deal with a couple of occasions when my wife had damaged a tyre and no amount of gunk injected into the tyre would have saved the day.

Must say I can’t get comfortable with Gunk only, so insist on a Spacesaver + Jack etc when buying my Golfs.
Usually insist on Ford throwing in a Spare and Jack for free when buying for Lovely wife too. 😬
Getting home at a slower pace always preferable to me.

A car with no spare should be illegal imo.
Space savers are a bit painful, but as Exonian comments, they get you home.

Started to get the car ready for its departure ie removing the OEM clear rear lights.
9,400 miles since delivery on 24th Oct 2022 so a little underused it's probably fair to say. Lease is until Oct '25 but dipping out early.
Will list some things in the for sale section including the OEM clear rear clusters.
Awaiting: Mk8 GTI CS
2020: BMW 840 Gran Coupe
2017: Audi B9 S5 Coupe
2014: Mk7 Golf R manual

Never did take to the car and the exit fee % has been halved so given ill escape a full service cost seems 'relatively' logical. No firm decision made but looking at an LCI 340i this week. Nearly went for an A6 but missed the boat on the cheap lease offer
