Discretionary Commission Scandal
« on: 09 February 2024, 14:02 »
I subscribe to the Moneysavingexpert emails and saw there's a 'new PPI' scandal brewing in relation to car finance mis-selling.

They reckon it could affect 40% of cars bought on PCP from 2007-2021, which for me covers 2 Golfs and an Audi A4.

Worth checking out. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-car-finance/

Got about £8k back off PPI so you never know.
Current: 2021 MK8 GTI DSG Atlantic Blue
Gone: 2018 MK7.5 GTI Deep Pearl Black
Gone: 2015 MK7 Match Night Blue
Gone: 2010 MK6 GTD Deep Pearl Black

Nice one

I’ve logged mine - 4 VW’s and 3 Ford’s for me possibly affected, although I did read all the paperwork back back at the time, never know though!

Got a response on 2 of the 3 I submitted.  Audi and GTI didn't have the commission applied, so no joy there.  Waiting to hear about the oldest deal the 2015 Match.

From my experience typically every new car sold on Volkswagen finance was always on a fixed commision scheme and the finance rate was always set by VW finance. There for a fixed commision to the retailer of either £100 on a VW up or Polo, then £200 on anything else regardless of the balance financed or value of vehicle.

If you bought a used car however that was a completely different story….

Finally got a response about my 2015 MK7 Match...and its different from the others.

An executive has been assigned to my claim and will be in touch.  So smells like there might be something in the 2015 deal that wasn't in the 2016 with Audi or 2018 with VW.

I'll keep you posted.
