mk4 brake discs fit mk3 gti 8v (288mm)

Hi does anyone know if the MK4 golf 288mm brake discs will fit on a 97 MK3 8v which has 288mm already fitted ? :huh:

I have never heard any1 mention it before so I guess not. I can only imagine that the disc et is different between the two
