Kenwood 7200 PROBLEMS
« on: 27 March 2008, 07:35 »
Hello everyone.
I have just taken delivery of a new Ed 30, It's Bloody great !!! However I have had fitted  by my local audio fitter a Kenwood 7200 double din, this looks wonderful and sounds great BUT the ipod freezes occasionally the blue tooth is good though I cant get the phone book over from my Nokia. I have no points of interest or speed camera warnings, this I hope will be rectified today by trying to log on to a POI site, can any one help with ideas ?........ Oh and the radio (2, i'm an old git 43) will come in and out at will, this im told by the fitter could be due to , 2 leads coming from the dash a white and a beige(brown) the beige being plugged in to the system because of the stronger signal he feels that there should be a  Y   lead so both can be plugged in as it is now the white is just hanging in there redundant.
Any ideas .
The car is wonderful as I have said, Its a Red 3dr DSG etc up here in Lancaster M 70ULY

Thank you

Mark ( Touly)

PS quoted £1400 to buy and fit, the 7200, bought off the net for £639 for unit and total £812  for all the bits.   Goes to show

Hi ya, not sure why ipod would freese but it may need software updating. Check on apple web site to make sure your ipod has the latest software.

You should'nt need a y lead to connect both aerial ends, only one is needed but I cant remember which one, you may also need an aerial booster most VAG cars do when an aftermarket headunit is fitted.

The phonebook will have to be sent over to the kit. To do this disconect the phone from the kit, then select your phonebook and you may be able to 'mark all' then send contacts, select via bluetooth and then select the kenwood kit (bt100 I think?). If there is'nt a mark all option then you may need to send your contacts one by one.
Once contacts havebeen sent reconnect the phone to the kit and you will be able to access your phonebook from the screen.

For POI try GARMIN website this is who do the kenwood nav.

Hope this heps, Rob

Rob , I'm away today ,going offshore. The leads in the back must be faulty ,Ive sourced a Y lead now, well car audio have, the phone wont accept my phone contacts and I cant get the alphabet on screen to do it manually as for the POI and speed cameras...this simply does not work, this is turning out to be a nightmare of a system. Any help would be greatful. Back in a month
