Mk 7.5 engine mounts
« on: 18 December 2017, 14:24 »
Long shot this one but does anyone know whether the 7.5R has the same engine mounts as the 7R? I’m about to get a SuperPro set but someone mentioned that the 7.5R may have a different rearmost mount.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Everything mechanical between 7 and FL should be exactly the same.

Your best bet is to ring or visit a part dept at the stealers and compare part numbers, if they are different then you have found your answer.

That’s not very helpful

Best to check part numbers as there’s every chance there could be differences. Heck, part numbers can even differ during car’s lifecycle, parts are revised over time etc.

There’s plenty of mechanical differences between the 7 and the 7.5. For one thing, the DSG gearbox is entirely different and that’s just the obvious one.

How not?? Granted the gearbox has an extra gear but it's the same size. Why do people think they've got something different between a FL and 7? It got some slight cosmetic tweaks and an extra gear in the dsg box but the engine is the same size and the chassis is the same size and it fits in exactly the same way!

But you’re just assuming, you don’t actually know. A quick call to a stealer will get a definitive answer.

So for the FL VW changed the engine mount locations did they? Its a mid life crisis FL not a brand new model.

And the answer is the rear engine mount is different because of the 7 speed DSG box. I’m discovering quite a few differences as I’m going slong with Project 7.5R. Another example is the exhaust - aftermarket 7R exhausts don’t fit because of the smaller cut outs in the rear diffuser. I thought they were the same but Nige at BCS knew they were different!
