Just obtained a new quote from current insurer.
2022 - £300.54
2023 - £495.27
They can
-
A tip I saw on here was to try Volkswagen Insurance (run by UKI Insurance) - they are coming out best for me this year.
-
Thanks for the tip
-
VW is better, £406.56
With all protections.
-
Have you tried Adrian Flux? You may also get a discount if your part of an enthusiast club too.
-
A-Plan beat the comparison sites for me this year.

Yes, thank you, I did.
£10.90 less than Direct Line my current insurer.
So far VW is in the running.
-
Self and wife both had 50%+ increases at renewal from DLINE. 15-20 minutes searching and fiddling saved hundreds. Ended up with Morethan, not the cheapest but we’ve used them several times before. Nb bizarrely can be cheaper thru a search programme than going direct.
Good luck.
-
Insurance companies are taking the ****. Had a 60% increase quote for a multi car policy and got this down to the same as last year saving £100s.
-
VW was the cheapest for me too. 27 years NCD, £572 last year, £974 this year with Admiral. VW £690 with 3 named drivers too.
-
VW blew everyone else out the water... over £2.6k compared to about £410 on Admiral Multicar (renewed in August)...
-
I had my renewal through today for my Mk 7 Ed40 from a reputable insurance company. No change in my claims or convictions with 20+ years Ncb, the renewal is up 73%.
An hour later on the phone and various comparison sites the best I can find for a comparable policy is up 57% from last year!
-
Plenty have written about it in the press.
Its insane and not actually supported by any figures around damage repair costs and thefts increasing.
Just legalised robbery and cartel operators in the insurance industry.
-
Mine’s gone up from around £200 a year a couple years ago to getting quotes of around a grand. Managed to get some no mark insurer to get it to £500 ish.
I think part of the reason seems to be the industry standard now is to write a car off if it’s got anything more than a seagull sh!t on the roof. Where’s Martin Lewis when you need him… ?

He is the seagull sh!t
Seriously, Insurance is now mental, I paid £260 last year, same broker quoted £840 for renewal and cheapest I could get was with Marshmallow (?) at £570 earlier this week - bummer.
-
Similar story for me. Renewal quote with the AA was nearly 600 something- almost double last year.
They very easily knocked it down to £440 - to nearly price match best quotes on a comparison site.
It’s the first time I’ve seen a big hike in premiums in 30 years of insuring cars.
-
Similar situation here in Jersey, for the last few years I’d been paying £180ish fully comp for myself and the wife as a named driver, the renewal came in at £360
Called around several local brokers and managed to get £270.
Seems it is the economic climate and people making more claims that has driven premiums up

I think mental amount of Range Rover thefts have a lot to do with this everyone else has to pay for them being to tight to pay 600 quid for decent extra security!
-
Just renewed mine this week - 10% increase over last year but age now plays a large part of my risk.
-
I recently renewed my ED35, 40, 15+ years no claims and mine went down £70 from last year
-
Just got a renewal quote for health insurance for our cats. Each costs as much as my gti insurance and they don't drive. 😾
-
Never too late too learn
-
It seems insurance prices may have calmed down a little?
Despite a higher renewal price from my insurer of the last 3 years, i found a reputable insurance company on a comparison site to insure my Ed40 for £201 with protected Ncb, they were not the cheapest either. Car insurance is now less than the road tax!

Good news. My insurance has gone up £100 a year over the last three years, hope it doesn't this time. I retired last year but a couple of days after renewal. So I called them to change my details and to remove the commuting part of my cover and they kept the cover at the same cost! I bet if I called to restore commuting cover they would increase my premium. Thieving gits....

Last year my premium was just under £300 through Hastings, this year for the renewal they wanted £600!!!
Yet on the comparison sites I had 3 or 4 offers about the £250 mark! So when I called Hastings to cancel the renewal they suddenly told me that their best price was now £260!!! On principle I told them to stuff it, if they can quote me £260 after hearing that other companies will do the same then why couldn’t they offer that as the renewal initially, thieving bar steward chancers! 😡😡

Exact same situation with Hastings on my son’s car a few weeks ago, I also declined on principle.
