Apologies if the subject's been raised before, but having been in a courtesy car, with BSM, I was wondering if it could be retrofitted to my TCR?
If it can be, I'm not confident enough to do it myself and don't have a car computer, so are there any companies who offer installation? I've seen one company, based in London with very similar name to another VW independent, who offer it with genuine VW parts, but the one and only review was poor.
I live in W Sussex.

These people offer the kit and home fitting - http://vagtec.co.uk/eshop/genuine-volkswagen-oem-retrofit-kit-blind-spot-assist-vw-golf-7-5g.html

Thanks Watts. They're the company I looked at, but my virus software says their site isn't secure, so Mr cautious here backed away. Mind you, if I pay by card, I suppose I'm ok.

I've used https://www.vw-retrofit.co.uk before for radios and bits, I know they also do installs but not sure how far Redditch is from you.
-
Thanks willni. I did look at those, but Redditch 170 mile drive each way.

Has anyone used these guys? Reccomended or not? Tempted to order a reversing camera through them.
Cheers
Tom

The website says it's not secure, and don't take PayPal which I use to help gauge legitimate websites. I think from Volkswagen I paid £250 for a lowline camera for my GTD 4 years ago.

Hi Tom
I'd be very careful. They haven't responded to two emails from me and, as willni says, their website is coming up as not secure. I tried via Safari first, but in case it was an Apple thing, tried Google chrome. That said not secure either. the one and only review when googling says, beware and one star. Caveat emptor.

Thanks @willni and @funboxster.
I'll speak to my local dealership for a quote, I know that another one nearby was doing them for about £500 all in.

I'll be interested to see what they say. I rang my local dealer and they said there isn't a retrofit kit for BSM. I guess you can buy the parts though and find an auto electrician to fit.

It's a complicated installation with putting the radar in your rear bumper and then complex coding. I used Vagtec and pleased with them. Works well in my GTI. My GTD came with BSM from factory, I like it very much, adds to the safety.

Anyone tried this retrofit kit for the blind spot system

It’s the one extra missing from my TCR and keen to give it a try but would like to hear anyone’s experience with doing the retrofit. I’m happy and confident to undertake the work. Appreciate anyone’s feedback.

Sorry for the delay in answering this. I used them in February 2022. At that time they did the installation too. I was pleased. It was obvious that the young technician assigned to me did this for the first time, but was skilled enough to handle everything OK. So overall I am happy. Hope it works for you and if you can install it yourself, even better.
